Sayur Asem (Vegetable Tamarind Soup)

Ingredients:
  • 2 pieces of sweet corn, cut into pieces
  • 50 gr peanuts
  • 75 gr yardlong bean, cut approximately 3cm
  • 1 Chayote, peeled and cut dice
  • 50 gr fruit melinjo
  • 3-4 large green chilies large, cut into pieces approximately 2cm
  • 3 cm galangal, crushed first
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 pieces of acid gelugur
  • 1.5 liters of water

Seasoning mashed: 
  • 3 cloves of garlic 
  • 6 spring onions 
  • 1 tsp roasted shrimp paste 
  • 3 red chillies 
  • Salt to taste 
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar comb

How to cook:
  1. Boil water until boiling, then enter vegetables such as corn, melinjo and also peanuts, boiled until soft/ripe.
  2. Add spices that have been mashed, and also ginger, bring to a boil.
  3. Add the remaining vegetables such as; Chayote, green beans, green leaf and chilli melinjo until cooked.
  4. Enter acid gelugur, sugar, salt and stir until blended.
  5. Once cooked remove and serve.
